Upper East Side. The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum building on Fifth Avenue and 89th street. The museum is located in the middle of one of the most prestigeous stretches of New York real estate - namely, Fifth Avenue between 59th and 96th Street. Most buildings on this section of Fifth Ave are co-ops and pretty tough to get into at that. Rentals are almost non-existent here.
If you are a renter with a dream of living on Fifth Avenue next to Central Park, your best strategy (aside from dreaming up something else) would be to consider going above East 96th - technically into East Harlem, although the definition of a quasi-neighborhood known as "Carnegie Hill" is usually extended above East 96th, provided that you stay within a couple of blocks from Central Park.
